Over the past year, you have helped us support United Family Services, the Susan G. Komen foundation and relief efforts from the Fukushima disaster in Japan.  In total we were able to give back $2775 to those in need.  With that in mind, we need your help picking a charity for 2012.  We have narrowed it down to two worthy organizations: Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte and the Humane Society of Charlotte.

Habitat Charlotte:  Habitat Charlotte was organized in 1983 and has built 1000 homes for needy families in the Charlotte area.  By utilizing the good will of local individuals and businesses Habitat Charlotte builds Energy Star certified homes and offers them to carefully selected families at zero interest.

Humane Society:  The Humane Society of Charlotte was founded in 1978 and is a "No kill of adoptable animal" shelter.  They offer a variety of services to the community but most importantly they are committed to creating "a world where there are no more homeless and unwanted animals."

Both are noble organizations and we would be happy to contribute to either.  Let us know which one you would prefer by leaving us feedback below.  Voting will end on Sunday January 15th at midnight.

Humane Society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People are turning their pets loose or to shelters daily because of unemployment, etc. Help them get rescued and rehomed.

Great suggestion, Barb, and I second that for 2013! I’d say Habitat for Humanity. They are such a great organization. Either choice is great, though.

My suggestion is the Humane Society. When economic times are tough, our furry friends often go without, are abandoned or worse. Habitat is a great charity, but they have a lot of support year round. The Humane Society is often an after thought. That’s my pick anyway.
